Riwayat karakter

Sebelum pemutaran film

Before the movie, Tia Dalma was known as the Calypso goddess. Davy Jones, a human being, fell in love with him. Calypso gave him the task of guiding the souls of the dead lost at sea, and Jones accepted the task because of his love. Jones is granted an eternity on condition that he can return to shore only once every ten years. However, when Jones returned to shore after ten years of service, Calypso failed to emerge.

Feeling betrayed, Davy Jones makes a secret deal with Pirate Lords. He showed them how to tie it to a human form using Pieces Eight; and thus, in the first Brethren Court, the pirates captured Calypso and tied him to the human body. Her binding tamed the ocean and satisfied Jones's desire for revenge. This deprivation can only be undone if the Brethren Court is reinstalled, sends back the nine Pieces they used to tie it up, and burn it. Until the World End event, she was not aware of the important role her ex-lover played in prison. Once he is bound in human form, Tia Dalma begins to practice Voodoo and Obeah magic.

It is thought that Tia Dalma and Sparrow became lovers at some point during the last adult life; Sparrow claimed to have "known him" at a time when they were "almost inseparable". Tia Dalma gives her a compass, a mysterious device that refers to what the user wants most.

Dead Man's Chest

When the Dead Man's Chest event begins, Jack Sparrow returns to Tia Dalma after many years, needing his help. Taken in the Caribbean by Kraken Davy Jones, he plans to find Dead Man's Chest. It contains Jones's heart, and offers the only way to kill him. A series of trades took place, leaving Jack with the location of the Flying Dutchman and a bottle of land to protect him from Jones, while Tia Dalma gained possession of the undead monkey belonging to the late Captain Barbossa.

Jack's crew returned to Tia Dalma's shack after Jack was dragged into Davy Jones's Locker by the Kraken. Tia apparently predicted this possibility, and told the mourning crew that there was a chance to save Jack. He reveals that he has awakened Barbossa, who will help lead the rescue mission.

At the Tip of the World

Tia Dalma joins Barbossa, Will, Elizabeth and the rest of the Black Pearls as they travel to Singapore. There, they infiltrated the headquarters of Sao Feng to obtain the navigation charts required to sail to the End of the World and Locker Davy Jones, narrowly escaping the grip of the East India Trade Company. On the way, he explains to Pintel and Ragetti that Jack Sparrow can not be resurrected in the same way as Barbossa because Sparrow was "taken" by the Kraken while Barbossa died of normal worldly causes. When saving Jack from Locker, Tia Dalma seduces him and references a suspected romantic relationship of the past.

As the group searched for the escape route back to the mortal world, they found many souls adrift in the water. Tia Dalma told the group the story of Davy Jones and Calypso, but did not reveal his identity. Caressing her pendant, she recalled that Jones was a human.

Later, it was revealed that Tia Dalma was Calypso, who was tied to a human form. His true motive for raising Barbossa and Jack was inaugurated when it became known that both were Pirate Lords of the Brethren Court. Each has their own "Piece Eight", the talisman required to free Calypso. He awakens Barbossa to get his work, and saves Jack because his Piece goes with him to Davy Jones' Locker. Upon arrival at Shipwreck Cove, he reminded Barbossa of his power by grabbing his hand and rendering it temporarily. He warns him that only by his strength does he live again and that he must fulfill their agreement to release him. If he fails, he will kill him.

Tia Dalma and her boyfriend, Davy Jones, briefly reunited as she was locked in a ship brig. Calypso says he still feels very much for Jones. He responds to his anger by saying that Jones would never love him if it were not for his unbridled and unpredictable nature. Calypso also punished him for abandoning his duty to transport souls to another world. That's because he ignores his allegation that Jones is a monster. Calypso is also angry that the Pirate Lords trap him in human form. Thus, his true motive is revealed: he plans to use his power against the present court in retaliation for the original act of transforming himself into a human being. He will also fully give his love to Jones, and it seems that they are at peace. When he touched Jones, he momentarily changed back into the old man. Jones's parting words betrayed that his heart would always be his.

When the battle between East India Trading Company and the pirates overshadowed, Barbossa and Ragetti released Calypso from his human form. Before Calypso was fully acquitted, Will told him that Davy Jones had betrayed him by revealing to the Brethren Court first how to tie him into human form. Tied by a rope, it grows up to nearly sixty feet high, towering over the crew. Barbossa asks that he fulfill his deal and use his power to help the pirates. Calypso freed himself, transforming himself into thousands of small crabs that swallowed the ship and fled to the sea. His anger then created a violent vortex that became a battlefield between Black Pearl and Flying Dutchman . Instead of helping certain parties, his anger is directed towards pirates for imprisoning him and Davy Jones for his betrayal.
