Royal Elastics
Tull founded Royal Elastics in Australia with his business partner Rodney Adler in 1996 when he was only twenty. Inspired by skateboard trends in the 1990s, the brand is famous for its sneakers tightened with velcro and elastic straps as a shoebox replacement.
Starting with just $ 5,000, this brand gets traction very quickly. In 1999 they sold nearly 1 million pairs per year and were available in 35 countries around the world, including ten of their own stores in Asia and one in the United States.
They sold the company to K-Switzerland in November 2001 for an undisclosed amount, even though the trademark itself is said to be worth $ 3.3 million. Tull moved from Sydeny, Australia to K-Swiss headquarters in Westlake Village, California in 2001 to serve as company president until 2003 when he sold his minority share, giving K-Swiss 100% ownership.
FEIT
Toward the end of his time at Royal Elastics, Tull became dissatisfied with the direction of the product. "It's been about sales volumes, quarterly profits and no longer about quality products." After leaving the Royal, Tull took the next two years to get around Europe looking for a traditional cobbler to teach her the old school shoe making techniques. Upon returning to NYC in 2004 with a better understanding of what made a pair of high-quality shoes, Tull enlisted his brother, Josh Price, to help find FEIT in 2005.
FEIT was founded in response to "Fast fashion" and was one of the founders of the Neo-fancy movement.
In contrast to mass production, all FEIT shoes are made entirely by hand and signed by the craftsmen who make them. Old world engineering and construction are used, such as Handsewn Goodyear Welt and Stitchdown construction.
FEIT has two stores in New York City and one in Sydney, Australia.
fabric and bone
Tull met Marcus Wainwright in 2001 when he worked for Royal Elastics. Marcus starts to wipe & amp; bones in 2003, and in 2008 they contacted Tull to discuss the possibility of bringing shoes into their growing company. Together, with Tull's network and expertise in the footwear industry, partnered to find the Footwear division of fabric & amp; bone in Spring 2009. Tull still serves as President and Director of Creative Footwear in rag & amp; bone. Cloth & amp; The "Newbury" bone boot, designed in 2011, remains one of the best sellers for the brand.
