Mall
In 2000, construction took place on Pennsylvania Avenue, opposite Hendrix Creek in East New York to build a $ 192 million shopping complex, located on the Belt Parkway. The shopping complex, known as the Gateway Center, was built at the Brooklyn Landfill area of ââ230 acres (0.93 km km <2). The 640,000 square foot malar anchor (59,000 m 2 ) includes Target, Home Depot, BJ Wholesale Club, Marshalls and Bed Bath & amp; Outside. Restaurants, including Red Lobster and Olive Garden, are also part of the Gateway Center. The construction of Gateway Estates, a low-income subdivision of nearby homes, occurred after a shopping mall opened in 2002. Due to the location of a mall near a high-traffic street, including Pennsylvania Avenue, Erskine Street, Flatlands Avenue and Belt Parkway, local developers said it would be interesting buyers from areas outside Brooklyn, including Queens and Long Island. This development has been an important project for economic revival and has created a lot of work for people around East New York.
