Little Neck (Long Island Railroad Port Washington Branch) - The ...

Little Neck is a station in Little Neck Queens, the last station in a branch in New York City at Port Washington Branch on Long Island Rail Road. The station is located on Little Neck Parkway and 39th Road, about half a mile (800 m) north of North Boulevard, and is 14.5 miles (23.3 km) from Penn Station in Midtown Manhattan. The station house is unusual for this line in standing on the south side (eastward). This station is part of the CityTicket program and is in Zone 3.

The Little Neck Parkway at the west end of the station crosses the line on the only railway line at the intersection of the Port Washington Branch, and one of the few left in New York City. It's also the only "quiet" crossing class in the LIRR system. Trains do not have to blow their horns here, because trains stop completely here, and the Little Neck Parkway is not a high traffic road. It is considered the most dangerous crossing in the city, as other crossings carry several trains, usually only late-night carts (as in the Montauk Branch and Bushwick Branch to the west of Jamaica station, where the line is not powered by electricity).

Histori

The original station house was built between February and May 1870 by Flushing and the North Side Railroad, and is one of only two built by F & amp; NS along the Port Washington Branch. Depot is built on the south side of the rail and on the east of the Little Neck Parkway. The station building was set up by Benjamin Wooley, and 16 feet by 26 feet, two stories high, with a high platform in front, and a length of 75 feet. The station costs $ 1,500. The station opened in July 1870 as Little Neck, replacing the previous Little Neck station, which was returned to the name Douglaston. Replaced by Long Island City and Flushing Railroad in 1890 with a second station house. Former F & amp depot NS is now located on a local road on Northern Boulevard.

There is a pedestrian pedestrian bridge in the mid platform that connects the platform to the east and west. The overpass was closed and dismantled on September 15-16 although it was repaired in 1989. The road was replaced by a range made earlier in late October 2016.
