This is a survey of postage stamps and passport history of the Seychelles, an island nation of 115 that stretches an archipelago in the Indian Ocean, about 1,500 kilometers (932 mi) east of mainland Africa, northeast of the island. King George VI

In 1937, the Seychelles participated in the omnibus cap issue for the coronation of King George VI and three published stamps. In 1938 a typical series of definitive stamps were published, printed in photogravure by Harrison & amp; Children marking departure in British colonial stamp design. The postage was reissued in 1952 with a new portrait of the King with a crown on it.

Queen Elizabeth II

In 1953, the Seychelles participated in the omnibus cap problem for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II and one stamp issued. In 1954, the definitive stamp of 1938 was revised to include the head of Queen Elizabeth II. Problems of routine and definitive warning stamps have been followed. The head of Queen Elizabeth II, or Initial E II R , was dropped from Seychelles stamps to independence in 1976.

Zil Eloigne Sesel , Zil Elwagne Sesel i> and Zil Elwannyen Sesel

Stamps marked Zil Eloigne Sesel (1980-1982), Zil Elwagne Sesel (1982-1984) and Zil Elwannyen Sesel (1985-1992) were issued to the outer islands of the Seychelles of Aldabra, Coetivy, Farquhar and Amirante. These islands are served by the travel post office in M.V. Cinq-Juin. Problems stopped in 1992.
