Breezy Point is an environment in the New York City area of ââQueens, located on the western tip of the Rockaway peninsula, between Rockaway Inlet and Jamaica Bay by land, and the Atlantic Ocean. The neighborhood is part of Queens Community District 14. This community is run by the Breezy Point Cooperative, where all residents pay for community-oriented maintenance, security, and costs involved with maintaining the privacy of the community. The cooperative has an entire community of 500 acres (2km 2 ); residents own their homes and own shares in cooperatives. Breezy Point and Rockaways are less urban than most other New York cities.
Breezy Point Tip , to the west of the community, is part of the Gateway National Recreation Area, run by the National Park Service. This 200-acre isolated area (0.81 km 2 ) includes beaches facing the sea, coastlines in Jamaica Bay, sand dunes, and swamplands. This is a breeding ground for piping plover, at least three, black skimmers, American oystercatchers and the usual ter.

Demographics
Based on data from the US Census 2010, the population of the Breezy Point/Belle Harbor/Rockaway Park/Broad Channel combined area is 28,018, an increase of 1,307 (4.9%) from 26,711 calculated in 2000. Covering an area of ââ2,033.88 hectares (823, 08Ã, ha), the four environments have a population density of 13.8 persons per acre (8,800/sq., Mi).
Racial makeup from the environment is 78.3% (21.946) White, 7.5% (2.095) African American, 0.1% (29) Native American, 2.1% (595) Asian, 0.0% (8 ) Of the Pacific Islands, 0.2% (66) of the other races, and 0.9% (259) of two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of each race is 10.8% (3,020) of the population.
However, according to the US Census Bureau, the postal code of society (11697) is 98.2% white and has the second highest concentration of Irish-Americans, at 60.3% of the US Census, 2000 (Squantum, in Quincy, Massachusetts, is # 1, with 65%). Community demographics are maintained as a result of the Cooperative rule that a person, before buying a house, should be recommended by the three members of the Cooperative and approved by the board of directors. Breezy Point serves primarily as a summer vacation for many New Yorkers. Estimates put the summer residency at 12,000, while the year-round residence was 4,337 in the latest Census.
Due to the history of the Irish-American population, Breezy Point has been called the "Irish Riviera." Since the mid-1990s, Italians and Jews have also moved to Breezy Point, making the concentration of Irish-Americans decline.

History
The community began as a summer beach bungalow, in the early 1900s, according to the New York Times. Breezy Point was sold to Atlantic Improvement State Corporation for $ 17 million in 1960. Community residents bought half of the land for about $ 11 million and formed the Breezy Point Cooperative. Today, it consists of about 3,500 homes. The construction of an apartment building began in the late 1960s and was stopped by City regulations.
Breezy Point is patrolled by its private security forces that restrict access to owners, tenants, and their guests. It also features three of the nine remaining departments of the New York City volunteer fire department.
On September 8th, 2012, the public was hit by a tornado shortly before 11 AM early in the morning that started as a whirlwind over the Atlantic Ocean and landed at Breezy Point Surf Club.
Hurricane Sandy
On October 29, 2012, Breezy Point was hit hard by Hurricane Sandy. Jamaica Bay and the Atlantic Ocean flooded the land between these bodies of water. Most of the Breezy Point houses are damaged or destroyed by high water. Residents lost everything in their basement, and hundreds of vehicles were destroyed by a storm. One car is on fire when someone tries to start the vehicle. Residents extinguished the fire before help arrived.
At 10 pm, six fire alarms were reported on 173 Ocean Avenue. Local volunteer firefighters were stuck on the spot for several hours due to flooding. As soon as the water recedes, the Rockaway Point Fire Department save more than 41 civilians. FDNY delayed entry into Breezy due to high flood levels. Roxbury FD extinguishes fire in the pedestrian area. Rockaway Point and Roxbury are situated on the ocean side. Rockaway Point lost all its rigs because of the high water, and helped Roxbury with his path. They found 130 houses burned down. Nearby, 50 other houses were damaged by fires. According to an official report in December, rising sea water caused a fire by contacting the house's electrical wiring.
Ecology
According to the US Fish and Wildlife Service, the beach on the Breezy Point peninsula is home to one of the most diverse breeding bird breeding areas in the Metropolitan region. Shorebirds that breed here include:
- Piping plover, which is federally defined as threatened
- The Migratory Bird Treaty Act protected by the American oystercatcher
- New York State Specific Concern Species, black skimmer
- The famous lunar, designated threatened in New York State
- At least, threatened in New York State
Beaches at Breezy Point Tip are owned by the federal government and are federal and state-protected areas where development is very limited. The beaches at Breezy Point were owned by the Breezy Point Cooperative as a consequence of litigation with the federal government in the 1980s.
Education
Breezy Point residents are colonized for schools in the New York City Department of Education. P.S. 114 Belle Harbor, serving the Kindergarten class until 8pm.
