Set design

The store where the show was produced was owned by Morash and located on his property even though the viewer was given the impression that it was in Abram's backyard.

This store is 936 square feet (87.0 m 2 ). The famous sliding warehouse door faces west. Along the west wall is the "back seat" and press the drill. Along the south wall are partner benches and storage units, radial arm saws, and (not seen in episodes) of computers, TVs and small office areas. The east wall of the store has a ladder leading to the loft area, jig storage, horizontal edge sander, and dust collector. The north wall becomes the goods sheet, the router table, the bar clamps, Timesaver's wide belt sand, planer, jointer, band saw, and various moving tools. The middle area of the store consists of viewing tables and related outfeed tables as well as large assembly tables. In the northeastern part of the building is a separate finishing room.

Season 1 (1989)

  • The closing credits for the first eight seasons of the New Yankee Workshop consisted of exterior workshop shots with marks in it, as we see Norm Abram closing the garage door, and preparing to go home and dinner with his family.
  • In the early episode of this season, with the garage door already open, the dog is seen running away while Norm puts down his equipment. For the rest of the season, after Norm laid down his equipment, he moved the table, and the corner cabinet came out of the way, and closed the garage door.
