McCartney was born in Lambeth, London, the second son of Beatle Paul McCartney and American photographer Linda McCartney. He is named after his ancestors (Linda McCartney's grandmother named Stella). As a young girl, McCartney traveled the world with her parents and their group, Wings, along with her brothers: Heather's step sister (legally adopted by Paul McCartney), Mary's sister, and James's brother. According to his father, the name Wings was inspired by Stella's difficult birth. When his daughter was born through an emergency caesarean section, Paul sat outside the operating room and prayed that he was born "on the wings of an angel".
Despite their fame, McCartneys wants their children to live as little as possible, so Stella and his siblings attend local state schools in East Sussex, one of them being Bexhill College. McCartney said that while attending public school, he is a victim of bullying, as well as being a bully himself.

Careers
Get started
McCartney became interested in designing clothes as a teenager. At the age of thirteen, he designed his first jacket. Three years later, he went into exile for Christian Lacroix, working on his first haute couture collection, honing his working skills for Edward Sexton, his father Savile Row Tailor for several years.
He studied his foundation at Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication, followed by Fashion Design at Central Saint Martins in the early 1990s: he graduated in 1995. His graduation collection was modeled by friends and supermodels Naomi Campbell, Yasmin Le Bon and Kate Moss - for free - at the graduation event. The collection was shown on a song written by his famous father, called "Stella May Day". The show made front-page news, and the entire collection was sold to Tokyo, a boutique in London. The designs were licensed to Browns, Joseph, Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus. In 1998, she designed Mary's sister wedding dress for her marriage to television producer Alistair Donald.
