History
In 2007, Boyd Gaming destroyed Stardust to develop Echelon Place, but construction was suspended during the 2008 economic crisis. Boyd sold 87 acres (35 ha) site to Genting Group for $ 350 million on March 4, 2013. Resorts World decided to use the construction structure Echelon instead of destroying it. It was originally to break down in 2014 and open in 2016.
The groundbreaking ceremony took place on May 5, 2015, with an expected opening date by mid 2018. The planned features include exhibit pandas and indoor water parks. The completed 21,847,314 square feet (2,029,681.9 m 2 ) project will eventually include four towers with a total of 6,583 rooms, and could cost up to $ 7 billion.
In February 2016, the status of the resort was deemed questionable, because very little development took place until then. Genting said in May 2016 that construction will increase by the end of this year, for a projected opening in 2019. The company attributes the project logistics project construction delays and falling currencies that have dampened the purchasing power of companies globally. The updated timetable is reported in May 2017, placing the opening of the resort in 2020. Construction at Resorts World Las Vegas became seamless in March 2018.
