Jacqui McQueen (also Malota and Ashworth ) is a fictitious character from the British Channel 4 soap opera, Hollyoaks , played by Claire Cooper. She debuted on-screen during the episode airing on September 26, 2006 and was introduced by producer Bryan Kirkwood series as part of the McQueen family. Cooper has stated that while Lucy Allan produces the series she is not used and Jacqui has "lost her identity". In 2010 when Paul Marquess took over the role, he recognized that he was a used character that separated him from the McQueen family, which later enhanced his role in the show. Jacqui has been described as a "tough former prisoner" and is very aggressive, he often takes on the matriarch role in McQueens. She is also described as being faithful and is one of several characters to remain faithful in the relationship within the series itself.
Many of Jacqui's early storylines revolve around his crime life, marrying Aleksander Malota (Jon Lolis) to pay off debt and his relationship with Tony Hutchinson (Nick Pickard), which became popular with viewers. One of the most prominent early plots involved his desire to have his own child after a miscarriage that made him unable, this resulted in a failed adoption, a substitute mother's story involving his family and eventually causing his breakup with Tony. The later story of Jacqui then involves his relationship with Des Townsend (Kris Deedigan), covering the murder of Calvin Valentine (Ricky Whittle), which is squeezed and held at the knife point for sex and a "surprise relationship" with Rhys Ashworth (Andrew Moss) which is also becoming very popular with viewers. Jacqui meets the homeless teenager Phoebe Jackson (Mandip Gill) and invites him to move into his apartment. On April 26, 2013, Mercedes went to look for Jacqui in Alicante where two had visited when they were young. Mercedes found Jacqui working as a barman.
