Hybrid tea is an informal horticultural classification for a group of garden roses. They were created by crossbreeding two types of roses, originally by hybridization of perennial hybrids with tea roses. This is the oldest group classified as modern rose garden .

Hybrid teas have characteristics in the midst of both parents, being tougher than the often very soft teas (though not as hard as eternal hybrids), and more likely to be redeveloped rather than the rather perverted hybrids called immortals (if not enough as usual-blossom as tea).

Hybrid tea flowers are well formed with large buds, centered high, supported by long, straight and erect stems. Each flower can grow up to 8-12,5 cm wide. Hybrid tea is the most popular type of roses in the world because of the choice of colors and flower shapes. Their flowers are usually borne sole on the ends of long stems that make them popular as cut flowers.

Most hybrid tea bushes tend to be slightly erect in habit, and reach between 0.75 and 2.0 meters in height, depending on cultivars, growth conditions and pruning regimes. It is the provincial flower of the capital region of Islamabad.

History

The birth of the world's first hybrid tea was generally accepted as 'La France' in 1867. Raised by Jean-Baptiste Andrà © © Guillot, a French nursery. He did it with the tea rose hybridization, supposedly 'Madame Bravy', with an eternal hybrid, supposedly 'Madame Victor Verdier', then "hybrid tea".

Other early cultivars were 'Lady Mary Fitzwilliam' (Bennett 1883), 'Souvenir of Wootton' (John Cook 1888) and 'Mme. Caroline Testout ', introduced by Pernet-Ducher in 1890.

Roses of hybrid tea did not become popular until the early 20th century, when Pernet-Ducher in Lyons, France, cultivated the 'Soleil d'Or' cultivar (1900). But the cultivars that make the most popular class hybrid tea of the rose garden in the 20th century are the splendor of Peace ('Madame A. Meilland'), introduced by Francis Meilland at the end of World War II, and one of the cultivars the most popular rose in the 20th century.

Michele Meilland Richardier cultivates hybrid teas that have double flowers, with corals inside and outside yellow and pink. It is said to survive well when cut. Roses are classified as part of meilimona varieties. The patent was filed on October 14, 1975 and issued 1 February 1977.

Most hybrid tea cultivars are not entirely strong in continental regions with very cold winters (below -25 ° C). This, combined with their tendency to stand upright, rarely peeled and often insecure, has led to a decline in the popularity of hybrid teas among gardeners and landscapers that support the maintenance of a lower "landscape" of roses. Hybrid tea remains the industry standard of interest, and is still favored in small gardens in formal situations.

Propagation

This is usually done with shoots, a technique that involves bud shoots from the parent plant to the rootstock that grows strongly. One of the rootstock is R. multiflora .

Hybrid tea cultivars grown in continental regions (eg Canada) tend to be louder than those from more maritime areas (eg New Zealand).
