Car 2 (also known as Car 2: Video Game ) is a action race game developed by Avalanche Software. It is based on the movie Cars 2 , the 2006 movie sequel Cars . Originally announced on E3 2011, the game was released by Disney Interactive on the main platform in North America on June 21, 2011, and in Australia 2 days later. The game was released in Europe on July 22, 2011. The PlayStation 3 version of the game is reportedly featuring stereoscopic 3D games. The Nintendo 3DS version was released on November 1, 2011 (the same day it was released on DVD and Blu-ray). The PlayStation Portable version was released in North America on November 8, 2011. It was also released in Europe on November 4, 2011. This is the last Pixar game to be released for the PlayStation Portable.
Inaugurated at the American International Toy Fair in New York City, Cars 2 enables players to dive into Cars with a new international spy theme. This game features a variety of competing Car Characters in an action-packed espionage adventure, as well as world-class racing. The game received a positive review, with a score of 72 on Metacritic for the Xbox 360 version.
All the main actors of the film take on their role in the game except Owen Wilson, Barbara Kottmeier and Michael Caine, who were replaced by Keith Ferguson, Jossara Jinaro and Martin Jarvis, respectively.
The Xbox 360 version of the game becomes compatible with Xbox One on March 11, 2017, and the PlayStation 3 version comes to the PlayStation Now PlayStation ⢠PlayStation 4 PlayStation Vita, PC and PlayStation 3 service.

Gameplay
In Cars 2 , third person racing games, players have a choice of 25 different characters and are trained to become world class spies. As part of the training, players participate in missions using high-tech gadgets, for example, to avoid enemies or to slow them down.
The game has three types of trophies: bronze, silver, and gold. Points are awarded at different values ââdepending on the type of player of the vehicle class used. The game characters are divided into three weight classes: heavy, medium and light. Players can unlock new cars, tracks and missions by collecting emblems. Drop-in/drop-out multiplayer mode supports up to four players simultaneously.

Synopsis
Based on the Pixar animated computer movie, Car 2: Video Game follows the exploits of Lightning McQueen and Mater characters as they practice in a secret facility known as CHROME, short for Command Headquarters for Operation Recon and Motor Spionase. They join British intelligence agents Finn McMissile and Holley Shiftwell as they try to become an equivalent spy for cars. Some characters from the Car 2 movie appear, with additional characters from the first movie and animated shorts Cars Toons available as downloadable content.

Development
The game was first shown publicly on E3 2011. It was also unveiled at the American International Toy Fair in New York City. According to a video interview on Game Line, John Day, the game's producer, said they want to make good family racing games and add some things that may never have been there before. Avalanche Software works in close collaboration with Pixar artists to bring the humor and personality of feature films to life.
Reception
Cars 2 received positive criticism from critics, with scores of 72 and 74 on Metacritic for versions of Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 respectively. IGN gave this game 8 out of 10 ratings, stating that " Cars 2 is a great multiplayer game that rivals Mario Kart ." The Official Xbox Magazine gave it 7.5 out of 10 ratings. Praised the fun and polished race but criticized the fact that online play has been lost from the title. Game Informer entitled 7.75 out of 10 ratings, calling it a satisfactory racing experience. Justin Calvert from GameSpot gave him 7.5 out of 10 ratings, praising his career mode and track design. He was, however, outraged that there was no online mode as expected and also no free roaming like his predecessors.
